Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Wedding Reception be indoors or outdoors?

The answer is yes. Brooklyn Grange is a mixed indoor/outdoor space. The Ceremony itself will be taking place outdoors under a gazebo, before moving inside for dinner and dancing. The Welcome Party at High Tide is an entirely outdoor event. Sunday Brunch is primarily indoor, but there is patio space for people to step outside.

What is the dress code?

The Wedding Reception is a formal event, however the theme of our Reception is an Urban Garden, and so we encourage our guests to have fun with the idea of a green, floral space in their attire. For the Welcome Party and Sunday Brunch, please plan for casual/cocktail attire, and anybody participating in the Early Bird Golf Outing is expected to dress course-appropriate. September in NYC can still be fairly warm, even in the evenings, so with any outfit please plan accordingly.

So what is the weather expected to be like for September in NYC?

September in New York can still be fairly warm during the day with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 60’s, with mild humidity.

If I choose to come early and enjoy NYC is that okay?

Absolutely! We encourage anybody from out of town to enjoy the city and are happy to suggest places to explore. In terms of Hotel accommodations, the Wedding Block is from Thursday - Sunday so anything outside of that window you will need to arrange on your own.

I missed the window for reserving a room in the wedding block at the Marriott Brooklyn, what should I do?

First things first, don’t fret. If there is one thing NYC is never short on, it’s hotel rooms. Also for some people who plan on exploring more of the city during their stay, a room somewhere in Manhattan might make sense. We encourage all of our guests to keep their accommodations in Brooklyn for the sake of keeping things close to the different events, but in reality almost everywhere in the city is only a 30-40min ride away. Feel free to message us directly if you’d like some alternative suggestions.

Do I get a plus one?

In your official invitation, which will arrive by mail, you will be informed of any guests you are allowed to bring.

Are children welcome?

Due to space limitations and the presence of alcohol, our wedding weekend is reserved for those who are +21. Any guests with children should be aware that children will not be able to attend the Welcome Party and the Wedding Reception. If you have any issues or questions please contact us. We thank you for your understanding.

Will there be food served at the Welcome Party on Friday?

The welcome party on Friday night is designed to be a fun cocktail-hour. There will be small passed appetizers and oysters, however we strongly encourage our guests to take advantage of the many amazing restaurants in the Brooklyn Bridge Waterfront beforehand or afterwards.

Will there be an open bar?

Duh. It’s us and we want you to have fun! Unfortunately, both venues do require that no outside drinks are brought inside, so PLEASE REFRAIN FROM BRINGING FLASKS, mini-bottles, or any other personal alcoholic beverages. That said, we encourage everybody to enjoy themselves and to drink responsibly.

Will Smoking be allowed?

Unfortunately, there is NO SMOKING allowed on the premises at our venues. This includes e-cigarettes, vape pens, etc. However, there will be places outside of each venue where people can smoke if they so choose.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, unless your pet is a registered ADA service animal, we ask that you please leave them behind for the wedding. Thank you for understanding.

Will I need a Subway Card?

Not necessarily. The Ceremony and Reception are taking place at Brooklyn Grange, and there will be shuttles to and from the Wedding Reception and Marriott Hotel. However, out of care for the environment, we encourage out-of-town guests to utilize public transit during their stay whenever possible. If you have a smart phone with your payment information saved, you can simply tap your phone at the turnstiles for easy access to the subway. For more information on how this works click here. Otherwise, a traditional MTA Metro card can be purchased at any station, and as always, there are taxis, ferries, and ride services like LYFT and Uber.

If you have any additional concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us through the chat window at the bottom of your screen. We will be happy to field any and all questions to ensure your weekend will be as magical for you as it will be for us.
